The VRA Pro Dwarf Car action is all Brian Saxton from Mentone in 2005. This week, he won from fifth starting and now has 9 wins in 12 point races. He has an incredible 495 point lead with only 220 points available each race night. Chris Taylor is making a late season charge at second in points as he ran second ahead of Robert Hansen. Second ranked Chuck Lippert finished 12th and holds just a 140 point lead on John Lynch and a 160 point margin on C Taylor. The Senior dwarf action had a 17 car turnout this week and another clean sweep put Port Hueneme's Ed Niedzwiecki in the point lead. He won both his heat and the feature from fifth starting and championship rival Mike Sweeney, the defending champion had a similar night. Sweeney won his heat from sixth and then ran second in the feature, again from sixth. Each has won five of the 12 point races and Niedzwiecki's point lead is five over Sweeney. Bill VanPraag was third in the 20 lapper.

Thirteen Pro Dwarfs were divided into two heat races and C Taylor won the first from third. Hansen ran second ahead of Lippert. Saxton came from fourth to win heat 2 over Thomas Velasquez and Lynch. Again, three early retirees in the 20 lapper as both Lippert and Jeff Fillingame were out on lap 3 and Michael Allawos fell out on lap 5. Saxton won from fifth ahead of C Taylor, Hansen, Chad Kincaid, Lynch and Velasquez, the final lead lap car. James Johnson, Delaney Bakke and Diana Marshall were all one lap down. Sweeney won the first senior dwarf car heat from sixth over front row starter Dave Revard and 7th starting Paul Sanders. Niedzwiecki came from fifth to win heat 2 over front row statter VanPraag and Jim Soltis. Soltis scratched from the feature and Linda Taylor was sidelined on lap 1. Mike Bailey, Sanders and Steve Addison were all out early and six cars finished lead lap. Niedzwiecki stayed red hot with his fifth win ahead of Sweeney, VanPraag, 8th starter Tom Bellinger, 16th starter Glen Monk and third ranked Jerry Doolittle. Revard ran 7th ahead of Jon Prechtl, Jerre Hinton and Tom Sera. Doolittle is 480 points back of Sweeney.

Adding to his large point lead, Brian Saxton won the VRA pro dwarf car feature for the 8th time in 11 point races. Point runnerup Chuck Lippert ran second, but trails Saxton by 375 points. Chris Taylor closed in on third in points with his third place finish. The Senior dwarf car championship fight is the tightest of all as Ed Niedzwiecki used his fourth feature win to close to within five points of point leader and defending champion Mike Sweeney. Five time winner Sweeney ran second ahead of third ranked Jerry Doolittle.

There were 11 Pro Dwarf Cars and 10 Senior Dwarf Cars. Lippert won the first pro heat from fourth with pole starter Chad Kincaid second ahead of fellow front row starter Diana Marshall. Saxton wasted no time coming from 4th to capture heat 2 ahead of front row starter Thomas Velasquez and John Lynch. Saxton came from 7th to gain his 8th feature win ahead of sixth starting Lippert. C Taylor ran third ahead of Velasquez, the final lead lap finisher. Marshall was one lap down in fifth and both Jeff Fillingame and Delaney Bakke were two laps down. Lynch was out on lap 1 and saw his point margin over 4th ranked C Taylor cut to 60 points. Kincaid started on the pole but was sidelined on lap 5. Sweeney won the first senior heat from fourth as pole starter Dave Revard ran second. Niedzwiecki captured heat 2 from third and pole starter Linda Taylor was second. The Niedzwiecki-Sweeney battle resumed in the feature and their quick pace left just four finishers on the lead lap. Niedzwiecki won with Sweeney second ahead of fourth starting Doolittle and 2nd starter L Taylor. Revard, Jon Prechtl, Tom Sera and Jerre Hinton were all one lap down.

It only took Brian Saxton 7 laps to get the lead in the 20 lap Pro Dwarf Car feature and the track point leader won for the sixth time in 8 races. Visitors Bob Brown Jr and Jim Scribellito ran 2-3 with Scribelitto coming through the whole field after he spun out of the lead on lap 7. Ed Niedzwiecki continued to close on Senior Dwarf Car point leader Mike Sweeney as he won for the second time in 2005. Niedzwiecki led from lap 3 and Sweeney gained second when Jim Soltis lost power on the final lap. Jerry Doolittle finished third and Soltis settled for fifth behind Tom Bellinger.

The Pro Dwarf Cars split 20 cars into three heat races. Outside front row starter Brent Stevens won heat 1 with a best lap of 14.71 as Brown ran second ahead of James Johnson. Scribellito ran a 14.36 best as he won heat 2 from the pole over Chuck Lippert and usual VRA wingless sprint car star Chris Wakim. Saxton won heat 3 from fourth with a best lap of 14.42 as pole starter Ryan Blade ran second ahead of Chad Kincaid. Scribelitto paced the first six laps of the main event before spinning in turn 2. Saxton was fifth on lap 1 and second on lap 2. Stevens gained third on lap 3 and Brown took fourth from Chris Taylor on lap 5. Brown got around Stevens for third before the Scribellito spin produced the first caution flag. Dean Couch fell out and Saxton was the new leader over Brown and Stevens. John Lynch spun on lap 8 and C Taylor fell out when he spun and got hit by Kincaid and Blade. Scribellito was back to fourth on lap 9 and he took third from Stevens on a lap 11 restart. Julie Frantum had spun to produce the caution and Delaney Bakke broke. Wakim slowed on this restart and he was out on lap 13. J Frantum fell out after she spun on lap 14 and Jeff Fillingame was a late dropout. Saxton won ahead of Brown, Scribellito, Stevens, Lippert, Lynch, Blade, Thomas Velasquez, Kevin Frantum and Kincaid.

It was a big night for the dwarf cars as 16 Senior entries were divided into a pair of heat races. Niedzwiecki had a 15.82 best lap as he captured heat 1 when Paul Sanders pushed high while leading. Sanders ran second ahead of Doolittle. Bellinger took heat 2 from dead last with a best round of 15.50 as Mike Bailey ran second ahead of Jon Prechtl. Linda Taylor led the first 2 laps of their 20 lap feature. Sweeney fell back after a first lap tangle with Sanders. Niedzwiecki was third on lap 1, passed Doolittle for second on lap 2 and took the lead from L Taylor on lap 3. An infield excursion took Bill VanPraag out of fourth and Soltis passed Doolittle for third on lap 5. Soltis had passed L Taylor for second when Doolittle and VanPraag got tangled for a alp 7 yellow. Sweeney gained fourth and then passed L Taylor for third on lap 9. The final caution came on lap 13 when Jerre Hinton spun and VanPraag was sent off the track for getting tangled up with Sanders. L Taylor lost fourth when she blew on lap 18. Sweeney had briefly taken second from Soltis on lap 14, but Soltis regained the slot on lap 15. On the final lap, Soltis lost power in turn 3 and he limped to the line. That allowed Sweeney to gain second behind winner Niedzwiecki. Doolittle ran third ahead of Bellinger and Soltis with George Sack Jr a lap down in sixth. Sanders ran 7th ahead of Prechtl. Both Glen Monk and Dave Revard were feature scratches.

Brian Saxton continued his domination of the VRA Pro Dwarf Cars as he won his heat race and then captured his fourth main event in six races. Marc Lippert was second ahead of Chris Taylor and John Lynch. The battle for the VRA Senior Dwarf Car title continues to be a two car duel. Mike Sweeney won the feature for the third time in six races and holds an 80 point lead over Ed Niedzwiecki, who finished second.

There were 13 Pro Dwarfs and Jeff Fillingame was the only feature scratch. Saxton won heat one from sixth and fellow third row starter Lynch ran second. Marc Lippert outdueled Chuck Lippert for the heat 2 win after they had started fourth and fifth. Saxton then added the feature win from 7th starting and fourth starter M Lippert ran second. Chris Taylor started and finished in third ahead of Lynch, C Lippert and Thomas Velasquez, the final lead lap car. Chad Kincaid was 7th ahead of James Johnson. The Senior Dwarfs split 10 cars into two heat races. James Soltis won the first over Sweeney. Niedzwiecki won heat 2 over Jerry Doolittle. Sweeney drove his M&M to a feature win from sixth as fifth starter Niedzwiecki ran second ahead of Soltis, Steve Denham, Doolittle and Jon Prechtl, the final lead lap car.

Chris Taylor came from third to win the 20 l.ap VRA Pro Dwarf Car feature for the first time. Marc Lippert and Chuck Lippert finished 2nd and 3rd. Ross Miller joined the Senior Dwarf Car action and won their 20 lap feature from sixth starting as he drove around point leaders Mike Sweeney and Ed Niedzwiecki. Point leader Sweeney ran third and Niedzwiecki was second.

There were 11 Pro Dwarf Cars and John Lynch won heat 1 ahead of C Taylor and Diana Marshall. Thomas Velasquez captured heat 2 from the outside front row ahead of M Lippert and C Lippert. Division dominator Brian Saxton fell out of heat 1. The feature 20 lapper had six cars finish on the lead lap as C Taylor won from third. Sixth starter M Lippert was second and 8th starter C Lippert ran third. Saxton had to start 10th and he finished fourth. Lynch and Velasquez rounded out the lead lap cars with Dean Couch and Marshall one lap down. The Senior Dwarfs fielded 12 cars and Niedzwiecki continued his strong recent efforts by winning heat 1 from the outside front row over Jerry Doolittle and usual sprint car racer Ron Bach. Sweeney came from 4th to win heat 2 ahead of Millar and James Soltis. Soltis was a feature scratch and Mike Bailey was out on lap 1. Millar won from sixth as fourth starter Niedzwiecki ran second ahead of fifth starting Sweeney. Doolittle was fourth ahead of Glen Monk and Jon Prechtl, the final lead lap finisher.

Brian Saxton passed Chuck Lippert in the final corner to win the 20 lap VRA Pro dwarf car main. Saxton has won three of the first four races of 2005 and holds a healthy point lead over C Lippert. Mark Lippert ran third. Second ranked Senior Dwarf Car racer Ed Niedzwiecki won their 20 lap feature from 7th starting and closed a little ground on point leader Mike Sweeney, who struggled to sixth. James Soltis ran second over Jon Prechtl. Niedzwiecki is 85 points back after his first win as Sweeney won two of the first three events.

There were 12 Pro Dwarfs, but both Chris Taylor and Jeff Fillingame were feature scratches. M Lippert beat Dean Couch in heat 1 and C Lippert came from 4th to win heat 2 over Saxton. Saxton made it three wins in four races by passing C Lippert in the final corner to win the 20 lapper. M Lippert ran third. Saxton had lined up 8th, C Lippert 6th and M Lippert 5th. Chad Kincaid and John Lynch also finished lead lap ahead of Thomas Velasquez and Diana Marshall. Saxton holds a 160 point lead on C Lippert with Lynch another 30 points back in third. All ten Senior Dwarfs started their 20 lapper but both Mike Bailey and Jerry Doolittle were out after just one round. Jim Stutzman won heat 1 over Doolittle while Sweeney outraced Prechtl in heat 2. Niedzwiecki was fourth in his heat, but won the 20 lap main from 7th starting. Soltis and Prechtl were the only other finishers on the lead lap as Stutzman, George Sack Jr and Sweeney finished one lap down. Prechtl is third in points, 65 behind Niedzwiecki.

Running a full Ventura schedule this season, Brian Saxton won his second 20 lap VRA Pro Division Dwarf Car 20 lap feature to add to his point lead. Doug Martin made the long tow down from Placerville and finished 2nd ahead of Marc Lippert and Brent Stevens. Saxton is 140 points ahead of John Lynch. Driving his potent M&M Chassis, Mike Sweeney made it two wins in three 2005 races at the track in the Senior Division for the dwarf cars, finishing the 20 lapper in front of point runnerup Ed Niedzwiecki and Jim Soltis. Sweeney is 120 points ahead of Niedzwiecki.

The dwarf cars had a strong night with 17 Pros and 12 Seniors. Stevens beat Saxton and Martin in a tough first heat for the Pros. Marc Lippert and Chuck Lippert were 1-2 in heat 2 ahead of Chris Taylor. Saxton and Martin shared the fourth row for the 20 lap feature and finished 1-2 ahead of pole starter M Lippert and third starter Stevens. Taylor was fifth ahead of Lynch, Chad Kincaid and Thomas Velasquez, the final lead lap finisher. Defending champion Jeff Shelton missed the event and C Lippert’s 14th dropped him 155 points back of Saxton, just 55 in front of fourth ranked Taylor. The 12 seniors were divided into two heat races and Soltis won the first ahead of Sweeney and Jon Prechtl. Niedzwiecki won heat 2 in front of Jerry Doolittle and Tom Davis. The top five finishers were all on the lead lap in the 20 lap feature as Sweeney won from fifth. Fourth starting Niedzwiecki was second ahead of pole starter Soltis while 12th starting Jim Stutzman ran fourth ahead of Davis. Both Prechtl and Dave Revard were one lap down at the finish. Prechtl is third in points, 30 ahead of Doolittle.

The VRA Dwarf Cars had another big turnout in their second 2005 race. Jim Scribellito from San Diego won the 20 lap pro division feature from 8th starting. He grabbed the lead from sixth starter Brent Stevens on lap 11. Opening race winner Brian Saxton ran second and Chuck Lippert was third. The Senior division feature went 10 laps and 2004 champion Mike Sweeney got his first 2005 win from fifth starting. Opening race winner Bill VanPraag flipped in the feature and CDCRA invader David Quigley was second ahead of Jon Prechtl.

There were 16 Pro Dwarf Cars and fifth starting Stevens won heat 1 over 2004 champion Jeff Shelton and Chris Taylor. Shawn Crawford came from fifth as he won heat 2 over Saxton and C Lippert. Scribellito started and finished 4th in heat 2. Stevens led the first 10 laps of the feature from 6th, but Scribellito took over on lap 11 and won the 20 lapper. Saxton ran second ahead of C Lippert, Shelton, John Lynch, Stevens and the lapped car of Paul Hinton. Both Michael Hunt and Dean Couch were feature scratches. Marc Lippert missed his heat, but tagged the feature and ran 4 laps before falling out. There were 14 Senior Dwarfs but only 11 survived to start their 10 lap feature. VanPraag won heat 1 from fifth ahead of Jerry Doolittle and James Soltis. Fourth starter Sweeney won heat 2 with his M&M mount ahead of former Ascot Park racer Danny Arant and Prechtl. Soltis, Mike VanAcker and Glen Monk were all main event scratches. Ed Niedzwiecki had a tough night, falling out on the start of his heat and only completing one lap in the feature along with former mini stock racer Dave Revard. Sweeney won the feature from fifth with 7th starter Quigley second ahead of Prechtl, Doolittle, Arant and Linda Taylor. Jerre Hinton was a lap down in 7th.

The dwarf cars had a great turnout for their first 2005 race. The pro class had 15 entries and C Lippert won the first heat over Ryan Blade and Chris Taylor. Saxton had a perfect night as he won heat 2 over Jeff Shelton and Thomas Velasquez. C Lippert and Saxton shared the front row for the 14 car feature after Paul Hinton scratched. Marc Lippert fell out on lap 1 and Saxton outdueled C Lippert for the 20 lap win. Fourth row starter Lynch ran third ahead of 2004 champion Shelton. The top four lapped the field as Chad Kincaid was one lap down in fifth ahead of Velasquez, Las Vegas invader Rex Freymond and C Taylor. There were 12 seniors, but Steve Addison scratched from both his heat and the feature. VanPraag came from 4th to win heat 1 over 2nd starter Sweeney and James Soltis. Pole starter Niedzwiecki won heat 2 ahead of fifth starting Danny Arant and third starter Glen Monk. VanPraag and Niedzwiecki shared the front row for the 20 lap feature and VanPraag was never headed. Third starter Sweeney nipped Niedzwiecki for second and Arant ran fourth ahead of Monk. Mike Bailey was a lap down in sixth ahead of George Sack Jr and Jerre Hinton.
